Golden Rule: Be honest with your children.

To earn a child’s trust, be honest with them.

If we make a mistake, we can be honest with our children and explain that we have made a mistake.

When we don’t know the answer, we can honestly say to our children that we don’t know the answer; or that we need time to consider the question before answering.

We must still be careful in choosing appropriate language for the age of the child, but it is essential that we are honest.

Try this: Look into yourself. How do you feel when someone is not totally honest with you? It is common for us to lose trust and have doubts. We can commit from this day forward, to always be honest with ourselves and honest with our children.
